About

There is another way

Our goal is a successful transition. Our Biblically-based, Holy Spirit-driven program focuses on building a path to help men re-enter the real world prepared with the tools they need for the move back into society.

Our program won't be easy, but it is worth it. We will consider men who are serious about changing their way of thinking and are willing to allow the Holy Spirit to guide their thoughts and their actions. The result will be life-altering and offers a chance to do something different to better not only their future lives, but also the faith that can get them there.

What does B.A.M. Offer?

B.A.M. is residential living in a village style concept that includes:

  • Single-resident housing
  • Pre-qualified application process
  • Christian environment and activities
  • A spiritual development program
  • Therapeutic animal companionship
  • Cultural readjustment to society
  • Vocational training and employment opportunities
  • Multi-step transitional education program
  • Community Service opportunities
  • Physical activity/recreational facilities
  • Security and safety
  • And much more!

Community Matters

B.A.M. offers the following community-minded features:

  • Compliant with state and local regulations
  • Coordination and endorsement with state and local officials
  • Partnership with local Christian congregations
  • Community involvement and service
  • Reshaping community attitudes

Commitment Required

If the men applying to B.A.M. have made no effort to better themselves while incarcerated, then it is doubtful that they will do anything different once released. And like we said, we are about doing things differently. This is why our program requires a letter from the Chaplain at the institution from which they are to be released before we consider them for acceptance into the program.

The Chaplain's  letter must include the following information:

  • All classes and courses offered by the Chapel
  • All classes and courses that were taken and completed that were offered by the Chapel
  • All classes and courses offered by the institution
  • All classes that were taken and completed that were offered by the institution
  • All attendance records to Christian services
  • All involvement with the Restorative Justice Organization program at the institution
  • All conduct violations received while at the institution

It Starts With a Cool Down

After spending many years behind bars, men released from prison will find themselves overwhelmed by the cultural shock and sudden change in their environment. One of the greatest impacts of change in that moment is companionship.

Upon entering our program, the men will able to select a dog or cat as a companion. There is a therapeutic effect that occurs when they must take on the responsibility for the physical and emotional welfare of their new friend. They will be required to provide baths, grooming, feeding, walking, and quality time for their companion.

The cool down begins with each man moving into a small house with his companion animal for the first month. This will give him time to acclimate to this new lifestyle and allow him to feel some normalcy again. At the completion of the program and once we have verified a stable and safe environment, he will be allowed to adopt the cat or dog he cared for and bonded with while in the program.

The Seven Stages Begin

There are seven stages that make up the core of our program and three steps in each one of those stages. After the cool down period, stage one will begin.

But Wait . . . There's More

While in the B.A.M. program, men will be able to select from a list of jobs to do in order to earn community service hours. For example, men might chose to work within the Restorative Justice Organization to make things like fidget blankets, quilts, hats, scarves, or even lap blankets for the elderly. The men might create paintings to sell in local shops, where the funds raised could fund putting gift baskets together for retirement homes and children's hospitals. B.A.M. will help in any way possible if there are other needs in the community. Most prisons do not offer inmates the opportunity to learn useful trades. At B.A.M., we believe it's essential for our men to have the chance to learn any trade which interests them. These are a few of the trades from which our participants might choose for vocational training:

Carpentry

Framing

Plumbing

Tiling

Electrical

Solar

Auto Repair

Culinary

Gardening

Lawn Care

Tree Trimming

Dog Training

Fork Lift Certification

Heavy Equipment Certification

Welding

All vocational programs will include on-the-job training. As an example, the Tree Trimming vocational class will form an emergency Storm Relief Team. This team will go out and volunteer its services for a donation to B.A.M. All vocational classes will offer similar services to the community. As the ministry grows, so will our vocational opportunities.
